CARY, N.C. — Local chefs and breweries joined together Saturday to help raise money for humanitarian efforts in Syria.
A "Soup for Syria" pop-up culinary event took place on Saturday in Cary at the LaFarm Bakery on West Chatham Street.

The goal of the event was to raise about $100,000 dollars for organizations that work with Syrian refugees in the United States.

Anti-government activists accused the Syrian government of attacking a Damascus suburb with poison gas on Saturday, as Syrian forces stepped up their campaign to retake the final rebel-held pocket near the country’s capital.
