Transformer fire causes Fayetteville power outages

A transformer fire near Fayetteville Technical Community College knocked out power in some parts of Fayetteville for about four hours Sunday, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A transformer fire near Fayetteville Technical Community College knocked out power in some parts of Fayetteville for about four hours Sunday, police said.

The outages primarily affected traffic signals at major intersections, including Owen drive at Village Drive, Owen Drive at All American Freeway, Bragg Boulevard from Pearl Street past Fort Bragg Road and all of Fort Bragg Road, Hay Street and Robeson Street. Authorities said power had been restored throughout the city as of 6 p.m.

Police were still investigating the outage and the transformer fire. No other details have been released.
