Train hits pedestrian in Hope Mills

— A CXS freight train struck a pedestrian near North Main and McPhail streets around 1 a.m. Thursday, Hope Mills police said.

The pedestrian was flown to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, police said.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

    you really should'nt..maybe this person was kinda deaf and facing the wrong way..but i have walked them in the county..viewing nature..im always aware when a train is coming..cant miss that roaring sound! :)

    hmmm lets see........ sounds.....lights...... vibrations.....
    something that big on rails just does not swerve to hit people.

    These headlines are gross misnomers trains don't normally leave the tracks and hit people. People get on the tracks and don't have enough sense to get off of them when a train comes, shouldn't be on the tracks to begin with.
