MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Officials with the town of Morrisville are working to figure out what went wrong with their computer system, a glitch that plagued town employees for several days.

Earlier this month, the town posted an emergency alert on its website, saying that email had been restored, but that it was still dealing with other computer problems.

Officials with the town of Morrisville are working to figure out what went wrong with their computer system, a glitch that plagued town employees for several days.

Town Manager Martha Paige described the problem as "sporadic outages." She said the town has access to all its data and is evaluating its data security systems in "an abundance of caution."

Paige says this was not related to the ransom ware attack that plagued businesses worldwide last week, and that public safety was never compromised.

The incident is currently being investigated.
