Tipster leads Cary police to bank robbery suspect
A tip led Cary police to the arrest of a 45-year-old Raleigh man in a September bank robbery.

Cary police officers arrested Robert William Moynihan, of 11313 N. Radner Way in Raleigh, Thursday. He faces one charge of armed robbery in a Sept. 22 incident at the First Citizens Bank, 1001 High House Road in Cary.
An anonymous tip led police to Moynihan's home, a single-family home where they found a white van seen near the bank after the robbery, police said. Officers also recovered money and other items taken during the robbery, they reported.

“We appreciate the assistance of the tipster, the Raleigh Police Department and the FBI in helping us apprehend this suspect,” said Capt. Mike Williams. “Rest assured, we remain committed to exhausting every lead until crimes are solved, and we encourage citizens to contact us when they have information regarding crimes.”
The tipster might receive a reward from Crime Stoppers, police said.
Moynihan was serving 24 months' probation for a felony breaking-and-entering in Johnston County in May 2006, according to the state Department of Correction records.
