NASHVILLE, N.C. — Nash County sheriff's investigators have arrested two Sharpsburg men in connection with a rape and home invasion in Nashville Sunday night.

Tony Marichal Sharp, 19, of Weaver Circle, and Byron Dale Whitaker, 21, of Sharpe Road, were arrested Wednesday, each on charges of first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of first-degree kidnapping.

Whitaker also faces charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual offense.

The alleged crimes happened around 8:45 p.m. Sunday at a home on Old White Oak Road.

On Sunday, investigators said they were looking for three men wearing red bandanas around their faces who fled in either a silver or gray car.

It was unclear whether authorities are still looking for a third person in the case.

Sheriff's Capt. Pat Joyner only said Thursday that the suspects know the victims and that it was not a random act.
