RALEIGH, N.C. — A terrorism investigation has resulted in child pornography charges against a Cary man, according to federal court documents.

The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force questioned Ameer Abu-Hammad last fall after numerous posts to his Facebook account suggested he planned to travel to the Middle East to support ISIS.

Abu-Hammad agreed to let agents search his laptop and smartphone, but he asked if they would look at "other stuff" on his phone, documents state. He then admitted to looking at child pornography, and agents found dozens of sexually explicit images of young girls, according to documents.

No terrorism-related charges have been filed against Abu-Hammad, but a federal judge has ordered that he remain in custody until his trial.
