Police say the victim was with several other teenagers Tuesday afternoon when a 17-year-old brandished a handgun and fired.

<b>SANFORD, N.C.</b> — A 14-year-old Sanford boy is recovering from a gunshot wound.

The victim told police he was shot in the upper leg while running away from North Avenue and First Street.

He was taken to Central Carolina Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The name of the victim was withheld Tuesday evening.

Police say they have issued an arrest warrant for the shooter.
