MAXTON, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation has undertaken a probe of the officer-involved shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Maxton Friday afternoon.

Maxton Police Officer Jamie Oxendine, 33, shot the teen at the Holly Court apartments, said Noelle Talley, spokeswoman for the state Department of Justice.

The teen's name was withheld because he is a juvenile, and Talley said that the justice department did not have an update on his condition Saturday afternoon.

SBI agents were to investigate the shooting and deliver their findings to the district attorney.
