Teen in critical condition after Rocky Mount shooting

A 16-year-old Rocky Mount boy was in critical condition Monday morning after being shot outside at 120 Otis Lane shortly after noon Sunday, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 16-year-old Rocky Mount boy was in critical condition Monday morning after being shot outside of 120 Otis Lane shortly after noon Sunday, police said.

An unidentified male approached Derrie Smith and shot the teen in the lower abdomen at close range, police said.

Smith was taken to Nash General Hospital and then flown to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
