Teen charged with murder of woman in Wilson

A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with murder Saturday night in connection with the death of a woman, according to the Wilson Police Department.

WILSON, N.C. — A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with murder Saturday night in connection with the death of a woman, according to the Wilson Police Department.

Officers found the woman, whose name was withheld, in the intersection of Vance Street and Maplewood Drive at about 9:35 p.m. According to police, EMS workers tried to revive her, but their attempts were unsuccessful.

Police were not releasing any information about the circumstances surrounding the woman's death, but several people who live in the aria said they remembered hearing a lot of commotion before police arrived.

The teen, whose name was not immediately available, was being held in the Wilson County jail under no bond.

According to investigators, an autopsy will be performed to assist with the determination of death.
