Teen charged in fatal Fayetteville shooting

Police said they found James William Lowery Jr., 39, shot inside a Ford Escort in the median of the 5100 block of Bragg Boulevard around 7:15 a.m. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died on Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 16-year-old is charged with murder after a man was found critically wounded inside a stolen car on Bragg Boulevard on Friday, police said.

Police said they found James William Lowery Jr., 39, shot inside a Ford Escort in the median of the 5100 block of Bragg Boulevard around 7:15 a.m. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died on Saturday. 

Officers took Devonta Maurice Bandy into custody shortly after the shooting. He was charged Monday with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

Investigators also found that the Ford had been reported stolen from Cameron before the shooting.
