CLAYTON, N.C. — A Johnston County deputy received minor injuries Monday when he was bitten on the hand during an arrest, authorities said.

Deputy Adam Case responded to a missing person call at a group home when the missing person, 16-year-old Antonette Mangum, returned and assaulted the 64-year-old woman in charge of the group home, authorities said.

Case tried to detain Mangum but was bitten during a struggle, authorities said. He used pepper spray on her in the scuffle, authorities said.

Mangum has been charged with resisting arrest and assault on a government official.
