— A former Pine Forest High School teacher faces a criminal charge for having what Cumberland County authorities said appeared to be a one-day sexual relationship with a student.

Michael Thomas Correll II, 26, of 513 Torhunta Drive in Hope Mills, engaged in "inappropriate behavior with a female student between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1," the sheriff's office said in a statement Wednesday.

Correll, who was an art teacher and soccer coach at the school, was charged with sexual activity with a student, which is a felony under state law.

He was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.

Correll was scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.

I agree, he should be held completely accountable for have a relationship with a student. I don't understand how you can see someone as a student and still be interested in them in other ways. My students, I come to see as my children- just the thought of that disgusts me.

loveable, it's against the law not because of age, but because of his authority figure status... aka teacher. trust me, when I was taking my education classes at State they harped on this. even told us never to close our door... ever... same sex student or not

loveable1089 - I know Mick well and there is nothing good about him. He can play soccer, but he is NOT a nice person. Plus Mick is married, although, probably not for much longer. FYI - General statue 14-27.7(b) It is a class G felony. Sexual activity with Student by Teacher, School Administrator, Student Teacher or Coach at the same school.

loveable1089- the problem with these "relationships" is not the age of the student, but rather that the teacher is in a position of power and that is what makes it against the law.

First of all, most of you who are voting for
him to be locked away in prison for what happened,
don't even know the whole story. I personally know
the story and I beieve if a student is of age to have
sex which is 16 in the state of north carolina,
and are not under the influence then that is their
problem. funny thing is the person who turned coach in wasnt the victim, hes a kid jealous that he wasnt going to graduate and told on people.

that's why ppl need to learn to keep their mouths shut. but I believe if you are of age to consent to having sex then no charges should be pressed against either party. if your one of those flaunty girls wanting to have sex with anyone and everyone then it shoudlnt be anyones fault but their own.

so by all means let the man go. he was a great coach and a good teacher, he shouldnt be penalized for what he's being charged with.

"Whats the difference between what he did and what CLinton did. theboth were older, they both had authority over the other but one stays president and the other fired before convicted. Ifhe's guilty fire him.Amazing the double standard. It is possible( although not robable) that the girl could be 20 years old and still in Cumberland County schools. Something to think about."

Please repeat after me deedeedee... "I will not watch Fox News 24/7. I will not watch Fox News 24/7."
