FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The owner of Fayetteville's largest Taco Bell franchise is suing a local advertising firm that's already facing legal trouble.

Ron Matthews says in four lawsuits file this week in Cumberland County that he was defrauded out of $720,000 by Smith Advertising & Associates.

The advertising company closed unexpectedly in March after lawsuits in Florida about an alleged check-kiting scheme.

Neither the firm's owner, Gary Smith, or son, company vice president Todd Smith, have responded to media requests about the allegations.
