Suspects swipe pumpkins from store, return for refund

Police on Saturday charged two men with allegedly stealing a half-dozen pumpkins from a business on the 400 block of North Reilly Road before returning later that day for a refund.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police have charged two men with allegedly stealing a half-dozen pumpkins from a business on North Reilly Road before returning later that day for a refund.
The pumpkins stolen on Oct. 22 were valued at $115.94, according to The Fayetteville Observer.

According to officials, Michael Pate and Rich “went to the business early in the morning, (took) the pumpkins, then returned the same day in the afternoon and requested a refund."

Jonathan Michael Pate, 32, and Bobby Wayne Rich, 26, have each been charged with obtaining property by false pretense, conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and misdemeanor larceny. Bail was set at $5,000 for Michael Pate and Bobby Rich.
