Suspect in Spring Lake robbery sought

Investigators said the man entered Kangaroo, 801 N. Bragg Blvd.in Spring Lake, around midnight on Oct. 3 asking for directions to Walmart, police said. It was during this conversation that the suspect told the store clerk that “this is a robbery” and demanded money.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Cumberland County detectives are searching for a man wanted in connection with a robbery in the Spring Lake area.

Investigators said the man entered Kangaroo, 801 N. Bragg Blvd.in Spring Lake, around midnight on Oct. 3 asking for directions to Walmart, police said. It was during this conversation that the suspect told the store clerk that “this is a robbery” and demanded money.

The suspect held his hand inside a pullover hooded jacket as if he had a gun hidden in the pocket, police said. The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money and called 911 for help.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot-9 with a small build and sandy brown hair. He was last seen wearing a green hooded jacket with a light gray shirt underneath and dark gray sweatpants.

The suspect was last seen leaving Kangaroo on foot toward North Main Street in Spring Lake.
