Suspect in five-county crime spree caught in N.Y.
A North Carolina man wanted in a five-county crime spree nearly two years ago was arrested in New York Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Gary Lakeem Hendricks, 41, of White Lake, had been on the run since April 2008 and was wanted on at least 15 outstanding charges in Johnston, Cumberland, Bladen, Columbus and Davidson counties.
"His arrest finally ends a dangerous multi-county crime wave in North Carolina," said Clyde Cook Jr., U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Marshals said that his charges include assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, financial card theft, identity theft and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. Hendricks was also wanted for violating his probation stemming from March 2008 convictions for larceny and breaking-and-entering in Durham County.
Marshals said that the last time Hendricks had been seen in North Carolina was Feb. 10 when White Lake police officers and Bladen County sheriff's deputies attempted to arrest him. Authorities said he assaulted a deputy and officer with a vehicle, so he could escape.
Marshals arrested Hendricks in the 700 block of East Main Street in Riverhead, N.Y. He was being held in the Suffolk County Jail while awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
