RALEIGH, N.C. — Abundant sunshine will be accompanied by temperatures in the low 70s across central and eastern North Carolina on Saturday, and low humidity levels will make outdoor activities quite pleasant, WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.

"It's going to be a gorgeous day, and we're going to see plenty of sunshine," he said. "We'll start cool, with temperatures in the low 50s, but we'll warm up nicely during the morning hours."

Clouds will thicken during the late evening as a small disturbance approaches the state, and sprinkles are possible during the early-morning hours on Sunday.

Spotty showers are possible throughout the day Sunday as afternoon highs fall into the upper 60s.

"It will be a bit cooler on Sunday thanks to our clouds and showers," Moss said. "Areas to the south and east of the Triangle have the best chance to see rain."

Temperatures will remain below normal into the start of the work week, but highs will push back into the 80s by Wednesday.
