Student shot near dorm at Elizabeth City State University
Police at Elizabeth City State University are investigating a shooting that injured a 23-year-old student near a dorm Saturday night.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to a statement posted on the university's website, police have not made any arrests but say they are "confident" that the shooting was retaliation for a fight that had occurred earlier Saturday at Butler Hall.
The victim, identified as Jake Laumoli, was taken to a local hospital and later released. The extent of his injuries was unclear.
ECSU was temporarily placed on lockdown – the second time in as many days.
On Thursday night, the campus was shut down for nearly two hours after reports of gunshots. There were no reports of injuries.
