Stepfather of accused man charged with sex crimes
The stepfather of a Cumberland County man charged with molesting two sisters faces sex-crimes charges as well, authorities said Friday.

Richard Elderfield, 53, of 314 Woodson St. in Salisbury, was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child. He was being held Friday in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.
Elderfield is accused of inappropriate behavior with a 7-year-old autistic girl while she and her family were visiting at a Fayetteville home in March 2004, authorities said.
The information was disclosed as detectives began investigating allegations of sex crimes against Elderfield's stepson, James David Parris.
Parris, 39, of 4825 Backbay Road, has been in jail since September on charges of sexually molesting an 11-year old girl. He was charged this week with similar crimes involving the girl's older sister.
The offenses happened on several occasions, beginning in July 2002, authorities said.
Parris was being held Friday in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2.8 million bond.
