WOOD, N.C. — A Spring Hope man died Tuesday morning when his car collided head-on with a truck cab in northeast Franklin County, authorities said.

Hugo Enriquez, 54, was eastbound on N.C. Highway 561 near the Nash County line at about 7:30 a.m. when his car crossed the center line and struck a Freightliner truck driven by Jovon Ramsey, 38, of Portsmouth, Va., said Sgt. Michael Baker of the State Highway Patrol.

Enriquez was killed. Ramsey was taken to Franklin Regional Medical Center as a precaution, but he didn't complain of injury, Baker said.

No charges have been filed, and state troopers are still trying to determine what caused Enriquez to shift out of his lane into oncoming traffic.
