Spokesperson: UNC-Chapel Hill student, dorm resident dies

A UNC-Chapel Hill student and resident of Hinton-James Residence Hall has died, according to Vice President of Student Affairs Winston Crisp.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A UNC-Chapel Hill student and resident of Hinton-James Residence Hall has died, according to Vice President of Student Affairs Winston Crisp.

"We are writing to share the sad news of the death of a resident of Hinton James Residence Hall," Crisp said in a release. "We ask that you join us in keeping this student’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers."

The situation is currently being investigated by police.

"It is important to know that no suspicious circumstances are reported and at no time was there danger to the Hinton James or greater campus community," Crisp said.

Counseling and Psychological Services staff members are available to assist UNC-Chapel Hill students and employees.
