Soldier found dead in Fayetteville home

A Fort Bragg soldier was found dead in his Fayetteville home on Tuesday, the Army said Thursday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier was found dead in his Fayetteville home on Tuesday, the Army said Thursday.

Staff Sgt. Pete Peterson, 32, of North Las Vegas, Nev., was an electronic warfare non-commissioned officer assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

The cause of death is under investigation by the Fayetteville Police Department, the Army said.

Peterson, who joined the Army in October 2002, returned in December from his fourth deployment in six years, the Army said.

He is survived by his father, James Peterson of Orlando, Fla., and sisters, Dawn Peterson of Orlando and Hope Peterson of Lakewood, Calif.
