MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A plane was forced to return to RDU International Tuesday after passengers reported smelling smoke.

A Continental Express jet was taking off bound for Cleveland when passengers smelled smoke, said airport spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin. The plane immediately turned around and landed on the north runway of the airport.

Seven passengers and three crew members were aboard the plane. No one was injured.

It is not yet known what caused the smoke. Continental officials plan to make arrangements to get passengers to their destination.
