Smithfield police: Woman of boyfriend in high-speed chase was stabbed

Police say a woman found dead hours after her boyfriend led police on a high speed chase was stabbed.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Police say a woman found dead hours after her boyfriend led police on a high speed chase was stabbed.
Smithfield Police said Alanda Abarca died from multiple stab wounds to her upper torso and neck. Abarca's body was found at her Johnston County home on July 2.

Police said the case is still under investigation as detectives look into leads and try to figure out a motive.

Abarca's boyfriend, Enrique Lopez, led officers on a chase in Smithfield on July 1. Shots were fired by both Lopez and law enforcement. Lopez died during the chase.
