OXFORD, N.C. — A pilot was taken to the hospital with minor injuries late Thursday after a small aircraft went down on Krogen Court in Brassfield, Granville County authorities said.

According to Granville County investigators, the plane was traveling from Kentucky when it went down shortly before midnight next to a home.

James Leggett, the pilot, contacted officials at Raleigh-Durham International Airport and said he was having trouble. Airport officials contacted Wake County authorities after they lost contact with the plane, and it was found a short time later by State Highway Patrol troopers.

Investigators said people inside the home near the site of the crash didn't hear anything when the blue and white Cessna 150L landed in trees just feet from the front door.

The fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft was manufactured in 1971, and it is registered to Ethan J. Leggett, of Pewee Valley, Kentucky.

National Transportation Safety Board officials were expected to arrive at the scene early Friday to investigate the cause of the crash.
