Slick spots result in dozens of wrecks across Triangle
Law enforcement officials across the Triangle responded to dozens of ice-related wrecks early Saturday after overnight temperatures in the upper 20s froze water left on roads by Friday's steady rain.

Several wrecks were reported overnight in the western portion of the Triangle, and officials in Wake County began responding to several wrecks before daybreak
Raleigh police were responding to at least 11 wrecks at 6 a.m., including one on Interstate 40 West near Gorman Street that closed at least one lane of traffic. No information about the cause of the wreck or potential injuries was available.
Other accidents were reported on I-40 West at Wade Avenue, Interstate 440 West at Glenwood Avenue, Western Boulevard at South McDowell Street and I-40 West at Hammond Road.
Officials in Cary responded to 12 wrecks overnight, including two that included non-life-threatening injuries. No major injuries had been reported in the wrecks, although dozens of vehicles were damaged.
Raleigh police advised drivers to use extreme caution on the roads until temperatures climb past freezing. N.C. DOT officials reminded drivers to be especially careful on bridges.
Daytime highs are expected to climb into the mid-60s Saturday afternoon, near normal for early March.
"The sun will start to do its work once it comes up," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said. "These slick spots should be long gone by 9 or 10 a.m."
