The State Highway Patrol said Tyler Strickland, 18, fell asleep at the wheel, woke when he hit the rumble strips, overcorrected and flipped his Ford Escape into the median.

Too many people in car? Check.

Car loaded down with stuff? Check.

Wee hours of the morning? Check.

18 year old at the wheel? Check.

Miracle that anyone survived, much less all? Double-check.

Drove past this yesterday as the EMS were still on the scene. That car was PACKED with items and it's amazing that noone was killed.

Two people far back in a vehicle like this could adversely effect it's handling. Not to mention that this is a crumple zone as well.

WRAL reported that 2 were in the back of the Escape. Sounds like seat belt violations to me!!

    Hope all will be ok!!

How do you fit 7 people in an Escape?!

Seven people in a Ford Escape??? Mine only hold 5. Seems they were a bit overloaded and luckily no one was seriously hurt as they all could not have been in seat belts.
