Silver Alert issued for man in Mount Olive

Silver Alert

— The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Monday for Richard James Murphy, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Murphy, a 44-year-old white man with brown hair and blue eyes, was last seen at the Southern Belle Motel, 203 N.C. Highway 55 in Mount Olive. He was wearing light blue jeans, a light blue shirt and white shoes. Murphy is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

He may be driving a light blue 2008 Toyota SUV with North Carolina license plate WTL-3071. 

Anyone with information about Murphy's whereabouts is asked to call the Mount Olive Police Department at 919-658-5031.

    carolinaprincess, there are a lot of degrees of cognitive impairment. Obviously this man's degree of impairment is mild. Many disabled people drive. It's all up to the DMV and the person's doctor.
