HOPE MILLS, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Sunday night for a 48-year-old man from Hope Mills.

Harry Shawn Meinzer is white, stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a brown and white long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

Anyone with information about Meinzer should call the Hope Mills Police Department at 910-425-4103.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
