Silver Alert issued for Durham man

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Friday for a missing Durham man.

DURHAM, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Friday for a missing Durham man. 

Leon Williams, 69, is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment. He was last seen at a home on North Elizabeth Street. 

Williams is described as a black man, 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds. He has short, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white suit jacket, black dress pants and black sandals. 

Authorities believe he might be headed to the Duke Medical Center, Durham Regional Hospital, the DATA bus station or the BP gas station at the intersection of Holloway Street and North Alston Avenue. 

Anyone with information about Williams' whereabouts should call the Durham police at 919-560-4427.
