The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Sunday for Danyell Jarontay Horton, 28, of Durham.

Horton is black, stands 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen on Roxboro Street in Durham wearing gray sweatpants, a gray sweatshirt and yellow and black shoes.

Durham police say he might be headed to Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.

A photo of Horton was not immediately available Sunday night.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4600.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
