— Benson police were searching Wednesday morning for a 74-year-old man who is believed to be cognitively impaired.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for David Grover Lofollette at about 8:45 a.m. after he went missing from the Days Inn at 202 N. Honeycutt St.

Lofollette is 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has short white hair and brown eyes, authorities said.

When he went missing, Lofollette, who goes by the nickname "Boonie," was wearing a light-colored hat, beige jacket and blue jeans.

Lofollette could be traveling in a light green 2014 Subaru Forester with Maryland license tag LFX910. He could be headed toward Maryland, police said.

Okay - he was staying at the Days Inn, drives a car with Maryland license tags and may be heading for Maryland - are you sure he's from Benson? At any rate, I hope he's found quickly, and a photo would have been helpful.
