One person killed in shooting near Cumberland courthouse

Posted December 17, 2014

— One person was shot and killed near the Cumberland County Courthouse Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Person and Cool Spring streets after the driver of a silver Chevrolet Impala, identified as Paul Chappell, 25, was confronted by someone he knew, Fayetteville police said. Chappell was shot while inside the vehicle, then drove a short distance before crashing into a parked vehicle inside a parking lot at 235 Person Street, police said.

Chappell was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died.

A suspect was taken into custody outside the courthouse, authorities said. That person's information was not immediately released.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been a domestic incident.

A baby in the vehicle was not injured.

do the british call black people African-English? lol...probly not. It's sad when there is something you can site in the UK that is less politically correct than in America. They are the model neo-socialists of the world.

France is much smaller than the US and they don't have hundreds of thousands of street gang members that glorify violence like we do. Different culture. It has nothing to do with gun laws.

Yet another reason to retire to Paris! Last year there were 430 murders in all of France. The USA? 14,827 Murders in the same amount of time. Oh, and France has a good number of Islamists, Africans and immigrants, so you can't lay that out as an excuse. They just have decent gun control, As opposed to our non existent gun control.
