Raleigh police were questioning some people Tuesday afternoon in an attempted robbery at a New Bern Avenue check cashing location.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said several people were being questioned, and that shots were fired in the attempted robbery just after 3 p.m. at Ace Cash Express. No one was injured.

Sughrue did not offer specifics about the number or description of people being questioned or whether any money was taken.

I don't suppose that is an excuse to go around being a criminal.

It would be news if this didn't happen.

This is a high crime area. Just pull up the Raleigh Police website and search the area. Mainly gang/drug crimes. There are many that live in the area that are honest but the ones like this should be dealt with accordingly (and I don't mean just our Justice system).

I drive by this area everyday to get to work and home. I rarely go by that one of the stores hasn't been robbed or seeing gang activity.

Getuone: you have no clue unless you are walking in these people's shoes is my point. I have seen it first hand! We are quick to judge but yet have a hard time looking in the mirror ourselves. Is it moral to rob, of course not. Who is willing to help them break the cycle? Easy to talk the good talk but who is going in the communities to help them see there is a better way?

So are the reasons below suppose to give them a right to rob? Come on: You can find a job, maybe not the one you want but there are jobs posted all around. Ask your church for help or family for help or stand on the street corner like these people that are (suppose to be homeless) on Capital Blvd and make really good money. Why should they work when they got people giving them money. Just like the Government, why should people on welfare get a job when they have the Government to take care of them. (I am talking about the one's that have been on it generation after generation). It is a cycle that needs to be broke and no one can do that but themselves.
