RALEIGH, N.C. — A convicted sex offender faces more child sex charges less than a year after his most recent release from prison.

John Calvin McLean, 53, of 1202 S. East St. in Raleigh, was charged with two counts of first-degree sex offense against a child. The warrant states that he sexually abused a child under 13 years old in late April.

McLean was convicted in 2004 of two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to state Department of Correction records. He served less than four months in prison.

Another nearly 2-year prison stint followed when he failed to register as a sex offender, DOC records state. He was released last September.

McLean was being held in the Wake County jail Saturday under a $1 million bond.
