Second suspect in Spring Lake homicide arrested

The second man wanted in a fatal shooting in Spring Lake was apprehended Thursday morning, police said.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — The second man wanted in a fatal shooting in Spring Lake was apprehended Thursday morning, police said.

Jerri "Tweet" Davis, 34, of 4228 Fulton St. in Fayetteville, was arrested by Fayetteville police and members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Crimes Task Force in a home on Kensington Circle in Fayetteville. A Crime Stoppers tip led to his arrest, police said.

Davis is charged with first-degree murder in the July 19 death of Carey Terelle McLean, who was shot and killed in the 400 block of D Street in Spring Lake. He is being held without bond in the Cumberland County jail.

Shaquan Darnell "Q" Parker, 23, of 302 Olive St. in Spring Lake, was arrested on Aug. 27 in the case and remains in the Cumberland County jail on a first-degree murder charge.

According to investigators, Parker's sister, Shante Ellis, argued with McLean the day before he was killed.

Ellis, 25, of 448 D St., is charged with felony conspiracy to commit murder in the case.
