Search for missing girl remains on hold

Posted March 30, 2009

— The high level of the Lower Little River on Monday continued to hamper efforts to search for a missing 6-year-old girl, authorities said.

Ca'zhia McMillian, a first-grader at Anderson Creek Primary School, was playing with a friend on the riverbank last Tuesday afternoon when she fell in, authorities said.

Crews searched a 5-mile stretch of the river for four days, using tracking dogs along the banks, sonar to scan the river and helicopters for an aerial view.

Authorities suspended the search over the weekend after heavy rains caused river levels to rise, making it unsafe for rescue workers.

The Harnett County Sheriff's Office said authorities would evaluate the river level daily to determine when it was safe enough to resume the search.

I wasn't going to say anything...but I've had a strange feeling about this story. I think that someone in the family knows more than they are telling. If it were my child I think I'd be more upset than what some of the people in this family are acting. I know that people express their emotions differently, but if it were my child, I would be in the mental hospital somewhere b/c I would go crazy.

Has anyone interviewed this young girl's mother? When she was on the news she did not seem too distraught or concerned. And yes, if she was not a good swimmer, why play close to the water like that? And how long did it take the other person she was with to notify an adult that the little girl was missing? I believe someone has more information about this little girl. I pray she is safe.

Why was this child at the river anyway without an adult. I pray that they will find her soon. If the other little girl saw her fall in then I would focus on the river.

You guys I was thinking the very same things. Maybe someone picked her up or something. I don't know. But it looks like even if she was deceased (which I hope not) her body would have been found by now.

Exactly 2alegal I was thinking the same thing too. I pray that nothing else happen to her. It seems to be just a tragic accident.

Prayers go out for this young lady and her family. As time passes, hope dims, however I wonder if SHE was actually in the river or did something else happen to her. I kinda thought if she was in the river, she would have shown up by now.
