Scotland Neck man charged in burglary, assault

A Scotland Neck man faces burglary and assault charges in connection with a stabbing Friday.

SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — A Scotland Neck man faces burglary and assault charges in connection with a stabbing Friday.

Cameron Dwayne Battle, 28, of 403 Main St., was charged with first degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to an assault call on Friday at Bunting Drive outside of Scotland Neck. Police said the victim had been cut and stabbed numerous times. The victim’s name and condition has not been released. Police said Battle, the ex-boyfriend of the victim, entered the residence through a bedroom window and cut and stabbed the victim.

No motive is known at this time, police said.

Battle was being held under an $8,000 bond. His next court date is June 4.
