NASHVILLE, N.C. — Students attending Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools will start Monday having longer school days to make up for the days lost to winter weather.

Each school day will be extended by 30 minutes every day until May 23 with the exception of Monday, April 21.

School system officials say they considered Saturday make-up days, extending the school year and eliminating spring break but opted on the extended school day for various reasons.

The school system outlined the changes to parents in a letter on March 10.
