FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 30-year-old South Carolina man was arrested Tuesday morning after he allegedly robbed convenience stores in Fayetteville and Hope Mills.

Fayetteville police said Gordon Shay Carmichael, of Hemingway, S.C., took money from a register at the Wilco-Hess on Owen Drive about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officers arrested Carmichael after stopping his green Ford Explorer near the intersection of Owen Drive and Boone Trail Road.
