Sanford man faces cocaine-trafficking charge

Authorities in Lee County have charged a man who they say is a major supplier of cocaine in North Carolina and neighboring states.

LEE COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities in Lee County have charged a man who they say is a major supplier of cocaine in North Carolina and neighboring states.

Lee County narcotics agents, along with state and federal authorities, arrested Demetrio Estrada Aguirre, 56, on Thursday.

Aguirre, of 2907 Wicker St., Sanford, was jailed under a $200,000 secured bond on one count of conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

His arrest was part of a yearlong joint investigation by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina State Bureau, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and other branches of local and federal law enforcement.
