ROUGEMONT, N.C. — A Rougemont woman died Wednesday when she lost control of her car and caused a wreck on N. C. Highway 157 in Orange County.

Ann Thrash, 28, slid off the road to the right, over-corrected and, in the process, hit a Toyota pickup driven by Michael Stone, 34. She was killed instantly. Her 11-month-old daughter, who was buckled in a car seat in the back, was unharmed. Stone was transported to Duke University Hospital where he was listed in good condition Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers who responded to the wreck said both drivers were wearing their seat belts and that slick roads likely were the cause.
