A Rocky Mount police officer resigned after being cited for driving while intoxicated following a crash.

WILSON, N.C. — A Rocky Mount police officer resigned after being cited for driving while intoxicated following a crash.

Rocky Mount police confirmed Cameron McFadden resigned on Tuesday after a wrong-way crash on Sunday morning on U.S. 301. McFadden, 29, and the other driver were both injured in the wreck that happened near the intersection of U.S. 301 and Highway 42.

McFadden was also cited for possession of an open container after consuming alcohol and driving the wrong way.
