Rocky Mount man shot in leg
A Rocky Mount man was shot in the leg early Saturday, and the location of the shooting is under dispute, police said.
Posted — UpdatedDeon Sykes told police that he was standing outside his girlfriend's car at Mike's Food Mart, 1317 Raleigh Road, around 2:15 a.m. when an unidentified person fired at him. Sykes's girlfriend, though, told police he was shot outside 716 Howell St.
Police said that Sykes had a gunshot wound in the lower left leg. He was treated at Nash General Hospital.
Police said that at the hospital, Sykes became uncooperative and insisted that the shooting happened at Mike's Food Mart.
Police do not have any other witnesses in the case and continue to investigate.
