— A man was shot three times in a drive-by shooting in the 800 block of Norfolk Street Thursday night, according to Rocky Mount Police.

Investigators said that a blue Honda Accord with three occupants pulled up alongside Joseph Earl Bullock and his girlfriend as they were walking toward Sammy's at Old Wilson Road around 10:45 p.m.

A man in the back seat began shooting at them, and the Honda sped away, police said. Bullets struck Bullock in the left forearm, right upper leg and upper chest.

Bullock transported to Nash General Hospital and then transferred to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Police said his condition was stable early Friday.

Investigators said they don't have any suspects.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call Capt. Laura Fahnestock at 252-972-1681 or Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.

it's everywhere..and until there is TRUE punishment for crimes committed, it will only get worse.

true. for a town their size, they sure have a whole bunch of inmates in the system. and from the sounds of it, there's a whole lot more who need to be locked down. i think it's spread to greenville and wilson too. it seems alot of places down east have the same problems. hmmmmmmm

"I was born and raised in Rocky Mount and you are right,We have SERIOUS issues in Rocky Mount. It begins with Supervisors and Management at the RMPD and City Hall."

Sounds like to me the citizens are a big part of the problem. Can't blame thuggish lifestyle on the police. They can only attempt to control it but the behavior problems start with the individual.

DeathRow-IfeelYourPain-NOT - I was born and raised in Rocky Mount and you are right,We have SERIOUS issues in Rocky Mount. It begins with Supervisors and Management at the RMPD and City Hall. I am glad I don't live here anymore. I do still work here, in downtown, and most days I am scared to walk out to my car alone at lunch and quitting time.

Rocky Mount scares me, my mom and my sister live there, I worry so much about both of them. It just don't make sense how some people behave.

It's the out of town transplants that are starting these problems. This shooting happen right by my old neighborhood.

Rocky Mount has some SERIOUS issues. I wouldn't want to live there where I might have to be in downtown Rocky Mount in the evenings. Probably a lot of bad drug and gang problems.
