MAXTON, N.C. — A Robeson County woman whose 3-year-old son was killed last month in an accidental shooting was found dead Sunday, authorities said.

The body of Evelina Dial, 23, was found in some woods behind a home on Nina Road, off of Modest Road in Maxton, at about 3 p.m. The cause of death hasn't been determined.

Robeson County deputies charged Timothy Wade Locklear, 27, of Shady Lane in Maxton, with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree rape, burning personal property and altering and destroying evidence. He was being held without bond in the Robeson County jail.

Authorities said Dial and Locklear knew each other and that Dial lived on Modest Road, but they released no other details about the case.

Dial was the mother of Manal Abdelaziz, who accidentally shot himself at his father’s Lumberton convenience store on Jan. 10. The handgun had been stored behind the counter in the store, police said.
