Robeson deputy, woman die in river accident

A Robeson County sheriff's deputy has died in a personal watercraft accident on the Cape Fear River.

PEMBROKE, N.C. — A Robeson County sheriff’s deputy has died in a personal watercraft accident on the Cape Fear River.

Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said Wednesday that he received a call from the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office informing him that one of his deputies, 30-year-old Thomas Bradley Carter, died in the accident on the river in Elizabethtown.

A woman, identified as Charlotte Paige McLellan, 27, of Lumberton, also died in the incident, which is under investigation by the state Wildlife Resources Commission.
