RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh Rescue Mission expects to deliver about 700 meals to people in need on Thanksgiving Day.

“Several years ago we started our ‘Gobbles to Go’ program to provide holiday meals for those who were housebound, elderly or infirm to help reach more people in our community,” said Director of Public Relations Leslie Currin. “This year, the outpouring of community support has provided all the turkeys we need, but we’d be delighted to receive donations of pumpkin pies, cranberry sauce and brown ‘n’ serve rolls.”

‘Gobbles to Go’ uses about 18 volunteers to assemble and package 700 single-serving Thanksgiving dinners. Another 25 volunteers deliver the still-hot meals to Meals on Wheels recipients and others who call the ‘Gobbles to Go’ hotline the week before Thanksgiving.

To donate pumpkin pies and other holiday foods to Raleigh Rescue Mission, bring them to 314 E. Hargett St. in Raleigh or make a cash gift for the purchase of holiday food online at www.raleighrescue.org.
